Abstract
This 3rd edition of the 'Forest management plan for the Gaspesian caribou', by the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources, covers the period 2013-2018. The mountain reindeer need extensive mature softwood forested areas. The Gaspésie National park (at the centre of the plan area) is not big enough to ensure reindeer's protection. Public timber forests around the park will be managed in order to achieve 1) a softwood cover > 70 % of the plan area, 2) an abundance of old-growth and irregular stands > 50 % than the historical abundance, 3) a composition mainly of high longevity softwood species, and 4) an spatial organization composed of extensive and continuous forested areas. This plan includes the criteria for silvicultural treatments.

Cette 3e édition du "Plan d’aménagement forestier de l’aire de fréquentation du caribou de la Gaspésie", du Ministère des Ressources naturelles du Québec, couvre les années 2013-2018. Le renne montagnard a besoin de grands massifs résineux matures. Le Parc national de la Gaspésie (au centre de l'aire du plan) n'est pas assez étendu pour en assurer la protection. Les forêts publiques aménagées autour du parc devront l'être afin d'atteindre 1) un couvert résineux > 70 %, 2) une abondance de vieux peuplements et de peuplements avec une structure irrégulière > 50 % de l'abondance historique, 3) une composition majoritairement de résineux longévifs, et 4) une organisation spatiale en grands massifs forestiers continus. Le plan définit les critères de traitements sylvicoles.
